UPCOMING | ONGOING EXHIBITIONS
TERESE STENHJEM | Vessel (NO)
May 15th - December 1st 2020
Stenhjem uses imitation as a way of understanding nature. She tries to imitate, isolate and simplify nature. She’s interested in cycles, capturing meditative moments or memories from nature.
The Norwegian artist Terese Stenhjem (b. 1986) works across time-based medias, including video, audio, installation and sculpture. Subjects are incorporated from everyday life performed in traditional media persisting the lack of artistic value. Stenhjem insists in working with voids and spaces. These spaces can be ordinary rooms in a building, they may be so small that you cannot enter them - or an illusion of a room. Her method is working on a sensory level, where she’s in contact with what she experiences as crossing points or trigger points for different moods.
Terese Stenhjem uses imitation as a way of understanding nature. She tries to imitate, isolate and simplify nature. She’s interested in cycles that are found in nature. In many of her works, she tries to capture moments or memories from nature that she finds meditative or interesting.
