ADRIAN PLATKOVSKY - Ut/Inn
In April 2018 (ARTICULATE 15), we had the pleasure of introducing you to Polish Adrian Platkovsky (1986), whom this May will be presenting his new series Ut/Inn in the ARTICULATE Gallery. ARTICULATE opens up the doors for our brand new virtual gallery, where you will be able to join the exhibition, from the comfort of your home, through your smartphone, smart TV and your laptop. All you need is a broadband connection and the time you wish to dedicate to experience the 3d paintings of Platkovsky. This May 1st 2020 and one month onwards, we’re introducing you to the Polish artist Adrian Platkovsky (b. 1986). Here he’s letting us behind the scenes of his project "Ut/Inn”. The two paintings are painted on three different layers, which gives insight into each parts of composition (some of the layers painted on Plexiglas). The project contains one monochromatic works and one in full color. The idea of the project is to show how a complex composition can be broken into separate pieces and be consisted at the same time. All complexity is linked by forms and shapes. The spectator entering the next dimensions, can determine which forms will be parts of following works of the series - but now in 2D. |
Alongside Platkovsky is showing his series Citylights from 2017-2018, consisting of five canvases painted with spray. Rays of light bouncing off the surfaces intersect to form an elusive structure in space. The light warms up the space in response to the surrounding sounds. A series of afterimages fills the field of view to deform the image and lead to unobvious places. These are dynamic forms that fit within the trend of Graffuturism, Rayonism and Futurism, inspired by urban architecture and dynamics. They refer to the effect that we achieve with a long exposure time when photographing a vibrant agglomeration. Each painted ray goes into streaks of color and marks the trajectory for geometric forms that build the electrifying image of urban places we live in, visit or work on a daily basis. Clear lines, color fusion, abstract shapes and the applied technique based on the use of spray paint clearly shows the order that emerges from urban chaos.
The Polish artist Adrian Platkovsky (1986), graduated from the School of Advertising and Design in Bielsko-Biała in 2007. In 2010, he began his studies at the Silesian School of Computer Science in the field of graphics with a specialization in painting. Since 1998, he has been developing his graffiti skills and for the last 8 years, he has been realizing abstract compositions derived from graffiti and rayonism that fit into the trend of contemporary Graffuturism. Platkovsky is inspired by urban light, dynamics and architecture. |
